Of Lattes and Cappuccinos

Twin and I had our parents over for supper a week ago.  Twin made fabulous slow cooked ribs and pies to which  I added mashed potatoes, green beans, garlic bread, and a salad.   It was delicious :)   Twin makes ggggreat ribs, I’m drooling just thinking about them.

After dinner the guys, my Dad and Twins boyfriend went and pick up java from our nearby Timmies.  As we began to consume said java, someone asked what the difference was between a latte and a cappuccino.  I did my best to explain the delicate espresso-steamed milk-foam ratio involved in the preparation of caffeinated beverages.  I’m pretty sure I did a horrible job of it, I can be a pretty good bs’er at times but this was not one of those times.

So in order to clear up any confusion I may have caused in my attempts to sound coffee smart, I present you with the following chart.

Mom, Dad, Twin and Boyfriend is any of you are still confused/concerned or otherwise worried about what exactly goes into each cup of latte/cappuccino, you can put your mind to rest knowing that this chart is here for you whenever you need it.

I feel like such a coffee snob.

Things that make me smile

. . .being stopped by a complete stranger at the coffee shop, who tells you that she is jealous your height (for those who haven’t met me I’m just shy of 6 feet tall).

. . .the smell of crisp spring air in the morning, after MONTHS of frozen coldness

. . . listening to the Flower Duet while drinking a warm french vanilla latte

. . . designing a friends surprise birthday cake, 14 layers of delicious cake goodness

That has been my morning so far.  And I’m loving every moment of it!  What are some small things that have made you smile today?

Lakme: The Flower Duet

Twin and I were watching The mirror has two faces yesterday. Neither one of us had seen it before, and I must say I didn’t mind it at all.  The ending gets a little cheesy (or a freaking lot) but its a fun chick movie. Although it must be said that I could never marry under those rather uh. . . unorthodox conditions, but that’s another story.

Near the end of the movie there is a scene were Gregory (played by Jeff Bridges), is tearing his apartment up because he’s so upset that Rose left him. Not a particularly stunning scene, but  the music playing in the background was beautiful!!!

After a while of searching I found the name of the song, its an opera duet called the Flower duet from Lakme.  I played it over and over in the office today, my co-workers love me :) –insert eye roll–.

I found this version on YouTube. The duet really only starts, in my opinion, around 1:20 into the video.  You should all watch it, if not for the song (which I know most of my readers will hate :) ), watch it to see the crazy-eyes and facial expressions Erika (singer in pink) makes.  Its funny stuff my friends.

Did you enjoy that?? I’ve been humming it ALL day.
